Early on
Gary started his journey as a jet skier back in 1993 in Wyandotte, Michigan, where he competed in his first competition in amateur freestyle and Slalom Racing aboard a Kawasaki X-2. He would continue to compete in the amateur ranks for the next six years, capping off his amateur career by winning the IJSBA Amateur Freestyle National Championship in 1998 aboard the Big Red National Jet Ski Tour, earning six podium finishes during the eight-round tour.
Today
By the end of 2025 Gary had logged 370 total starts, 251 podiums, and 134 career wins. He continues to support the Great Lakes Watercross Tour & the global Virtual Freestyle Competition.
